Hey there, friends! Ever feel like there's never enough time to pause and dedicate moments to God? Amidst the whirlwind of constant activities, unexpected family visits, and the allure of Instagram or TikTok videos (not to mention the joyous chaos of tending to kids), finding time for deep reflection can be challenging.
In times like these, taking a pause becomes essential. Because at the end of the day, amid the 24 hours filled with diverse activities, what remains? What stands the test of time? It's the seeds you sow, the wisdom you receive from God, and the moments spent meditating on the Bible, holding onto its truths in tough times. That's what truly matters. If we don't invest time in planting eternal seeds, what will we harvest?
So, here's a suggestion: during that pause, grab a notebook, create a document, or set up a board on a productivity app like Notion or Xtiles. Take a few minutes to ponder those moments in your day when you can connect with God. The connection begins from the moment you wake up until you lay down to rest— if the willingness resides within us. God doesn't hang up; He stays attentive to you all day long.
How to connect with God in your daily life?
Gratitude Journal
Use a Gratitude Journal not just listing things you're thankful for but exploring how they make you feel. Describe how those blessings impact your life and draw you closer to God.
You can use a physical journal, incorporating drawings, clippings, or even stickers to personalize it. It doesn't have to be physical; it can be digital too.
Download my Canva template and customize it to your liking, or download the PDF file.
I recommend the Reflection.app for recording your gratitude.
Lastly, consider sharing your gratitude. Share your reflections with friends, family, or in a prayer group/small group from your local congregation, creating a deeper connection within the community.
Devotional
Choose devotionals that align with your learning style and preferences. Opt for short ones for morning reads or longer ones for in-depth studies. YouVersion offers excellent plans that will be useful. Now I am now doing this daily devotional in Spanish.
Share devotional times with friends or family. I've done it repeatedly with friends or my husband, and they've been beautiful moments where we delved deeper into the Bible.
All this becomes meaningful in your life if you apply the principles and lessons from the devotional to your daily life, seeking opportunities to practice faith.
Bible Study
Choose a method: Explore different Bible study methods like verse analysis, topical studies, or studying entire books.
Use tools: Utilize biblical dictionaries, maps, commentaries, different Bible versions, and other tools to better understand the context and meaning of the scriptures.
Apply what you've learned: Reflect on how the passages you study relate to your current life and seek ways to apply their teachings.
Prayer
Experiment with different types of prayers—contemplative prayer, intercessory prayer, praise and worship, or prayers with specific requests.
Think of a journaling method to record your prayers and dedicate sections to different areas of your life, such as relationships, work, health, or dreams, and (if you want to get a little artistic) then explore them through poems, songs, or heartfelt letters to God. This will personalize your prayers and make them even more memorable. And this brings me to one of my last points.
Art
Express your faith through various forms of art like painting, drawing, music, writing, or dance. God isn't as structured as many believe; He is the best creator and the first artist of the earth. So, if you're drawn to deepening your relationship with God through art, don't limit yourself.
Utilize art as a tool to meditate on God's word and deepen your understanding of faith.
Podcasts
Look for podcasts that cover topics of interest or help you face specific challenges in your life. Use this resource during moments like commuting to work, doing household chores, or exercising, and if you want, share your favorites with friends or family and engage in conversations about the topics discussed.
Educational Resources
Flashcards: Use flashcards to learn Bible verses and make those moments more dynamic and fun with illustrated flashcards. You can get beautiful resources on Etsy.
Access our illustrated flashcards, designed for kids but perfect if you're a fan of cute illustrations like me 😊. You can also get the christian affirmations on Amazon in a paperback book: English & Spanish.
Books: Discover books that help you connect with God on a deeper level. Choose titles that align with your reading preferences; if you enjoy easily digestible books, consider John Maxwell or John McArthur. For those who appreciate Christian novels, I recommend Francine Rivers (my favorite is "Redeeming Love"). If you're into fiction, delve into the works of C.S. Lewis. You'll find many excellent authors at your nearest bookstores.
Apps: Explore apps with devotionals, Bible reading plans, Christian music, or even interactive games that help you connect with God in a fun and engaging way.
Websites: Look for reliable websites offering sermons, Bible studies, articles, and resources to deepen your faith. This women's blog is excellent and useful: Revive Our Hearts
I hope these resources for connecting more with God prove to be very helpful in growing your relationship with Him every day.
Thanks for reading!
